Uniclic tiles installation

arrow CONCRETE SUBFLOOR
New construction:
  • Make sure to allow the new concrete floor to dry for a week if it is of 1 - 4 cm thick and the double amount of time for a thickness of over 4 cm.
  • If you are installing the laminate flooring in a room with underfloor heating, make sure that the subfloor does not exceed the temperature of 28.8°C and that the moisture content is less than 1.5% and make sure to ask for special instructions or use a professional for the installation.
Renovation:
  • Remove any type of flooring (carpet, needle felt, etc)
  • If the previous flooring is damp sealed (PVC, linoleum, VCT, etc.) you do not have to remove it.
  • Make sure to always use underlayment. We advise that you use Quick Step® underlayment.
arrow WOODEN SUBFLOOR
  • First remove any previous flooring
  • Check to see whether the plank floor is stable and nail down any loose planks and use special leveling layers if necessary.
  • The Quick Step® planks must be installed crosswise to the direction of previous floors.
  • Make sure that the crawl space under the laminate flooring has sufficient ventilation by removing any obstacles. The maximum moisture content of the wood must not exceed 12%.

Make sure you use the correct underlayment for your type of floor in order to get the best results both in insulating your room as well as in smoothing the surface.

As the humidity level can vary from one season to another it is very important that you leave an 8 to 10 mm expansion gap from the wall. In larger rooms leave a wider expansion gap that can be covered with profiles that are attached to the base floor or wall and not to the laminate to allow it to move freely under the profile.
arrow Step one - First row
Starting from one corner of the room install the laminate tiles from left to right either unbonded or in stretcher bond (fig. 6) leaving expansion and extension gap of 8 to 10 mm.

For symmetry in your floors start from the left hand corner of the room placing the first tile with both tongue sides facing the wall.

Complete the first row though the angling installation method using preferably unsawn tiles making sure that they form a single line when clicked together and correcting minor inconsistencies with the help of the tapping block (fig. 1b).
