9 focus points |
|
|
- As the installation of the Quick Step® laminate floors is done without the use of glue thanks to the Uniclic® system you can walk on the floor during and immediately after finishing installing.
- You can choose the starting point when installing thanks to the Uniclic® system that allows an ambidextrous installation.
- Before installation mix the planks of various packages together to ensure a unitary look for your floor.
- Make sure that you have checked every plank and that you have taken out the faulty ones, if any.
- Preferably, the direction of the floor should follow the one of the light entering your space and the ideal temperature is of 15-20o C and a relative humidity of 50-60%.
- It is preferable that you leave the planks to acclimatize for 48 hours in the unopen packages at room temperature, placing them in the middle of the room where you will install the flooring.
- It is very important to make sure that there is an 8 to 10 mm expansion joint on all four sides of the floor, around pipes, thresholds and under doors to accommodate for any floor expansion or contraction caused by seasonal humidity level fluctuations.
- When installing laminate floors in large rooms make sure to place expansion joints every 13 m width-wise and every 13m length-wise. Also, it is preferable that you provide expansion joints between different rooms. They can be finished using moldings attached to the subfloors.
- Never allow the end joints of to successive rows to be in line by staggering them by at least 15 cm.

Preparing the room |
|
|
- Check that doors can still open after you install the underlayment and the floor
- Check to see whether the molding can be removed. The floor can also be finished with Quick Step® profiles.
- The floor of the room should be flat. Please make sure you have smoothed out any unevenness. Underlayments are very important to smooth any irregularity in the floor surface but they also make the installation of laminate flooring planks easier.
- The subfloor must be clean and dry.

CONCRETE SUBFLOOR |
|
|
New construction: |
|
- Make sure to allow the new concrete floor to dry for a week if it is of 1 - 4 cm thick and the double amount of time for a thickness of over 4 cm.
- If you are installing the laminate flooring in a room with underfloor heating, make sure that the subfloor does not exceed the temperature of 28.8°C and that the moisture content is less than 1.5% and make sure to ask for special instructions or use a professional for the installation.

|
Renovation: |
|
- Remove any type of flooring (carpet, needle felt, etc)
- If the previous flooring is damp sealed (PVC, linoleum, VCT, etc.) you do not have to remove it.
- Make sure to always use underlayment. We advise that you use Quick Step® underlayment.
