CONCRETE SUBFLOOR |
New construction: |
- Make sure to allow the new concrete floor to dry for a week if it is of 1 - 4 cm thick and the double amount of time for a thickness of over 4 cm.
- If you are installing the laminate flooring in a room with underfloor heating, make sure that the subfloor does not exceed the temperature of 28°C and that the moisture content is less than 1.5% and make sure to ask for special instructions or use a professional for the installation.
Renovation: |
- Remove any type of flooring (carpet, needle felt, etc)
- If the previous flooring is damp sealed (PVC, linoleum, VCT, etc.) you do not have to remove it.
- Make sure to always use underlay..
WOODEN SUBFLOOR |
- First remove any previous flooring
- Check to see whether the plank floor is stable and nail down any loose planks and use special leveling layers if necessary.
- The planks must be installed crosswise to the direction of previous floors.
- Make sure that the crawl space under the laminate flooring has sufficient ventilation by removing any obstacles. The maximum moisture content of the wood must not exceed 12%.
After cleaning the base floor and smoothing out any irregularities, install the sub floor.
Preparing the laminate floor treatments |
Make sure you mix the planks from several packages in order to get a similar colour variation throughout the floor.
Make sure that you leave an 8 - 10 mm expansion gap from the wall to account for the fluctuating humidity levels that might cause the floor to expand or contract.
Before beginning the installation process make sure you have checked all the planks and have left out the faulty ones, if any.
