Installation instructions for engineered floor treatments

arrow Underfloor heating
Engineered floor coverings are compatible with underfloor heating systems.

Prior to installation make sure that the heating installation has been working for a minimum of three weeks. Inspect the pipes to ensure that there are no leaks.

Only use underlay that is compatible with this type of heating system.

Make sure that the temperature does not exceed 27°C at any point.

48 hours before installing the engineered floors turn off the heating and for a period of 2-3 days turn up the heating, 3-4°C at a time until reaching the desired temperature.

Ensure a minimum temperature of 18°C at all times.

arrow Method A
  Floating installation
Using special adhesive, apply it in 150 mm strips to the head of the board.

Staggering each 150 - 200 mm by 80 mm when applying the adhesive along the length of the board to allow the excess glue to fill up the space and not be squeezed to the surface.

Use a damp cloth to wipe off the excess glue.
arrow Method B
  Nailing on to wooden sub-floor
Inspect the existing subfloor and make sure that it is stable and securely fixed. When installing onto an existing floor, make sure that you find the right angling to the previous floor boards and if necessary, use 6 mm plywood on top to change the direction.

Use secret nailing equipment like a porta-nailer making sure to leave a 150 to 200 mm interval between the nails and that even small panels are secured in a minimum 2 locations.

Gluing on to wooden or concrete sub-floor
Special water, alcohol or polyurethane free adhesives must be used.

You can adhere the wooden flooring directly to the sub floor without applying glue on to the tongue and groove.

Remove and excess glue that might appear on the surface of the floor must be immediately removed using a damp cloth.

Use flooring straps to fix the planks together whilst the glue sets.
